Reddit Ask Me Anything and the Engineer
There was an AMA on Reddit today that was supposed to focus on this weekend's beta event. However, rabid fans will ask what they will ask... and they did.
Here's questions pertinent to the Engineer
Question What is the status of the Engineer re-work? What kind of changes are being made?
Reply: Still in progress. I think the key piece is getting their kits to inherit some of the benefits that you get from collecting and customizing weapons.
Question: As Weapon Kits replace your weapons will Weapon Sigils on your Pistol/Shield or Rifle affect Weapon Kit abilites/Kit swapping? Struggling to think of any other classes that technically lose out on potentially very nice bonuses to dmg/utility in that way.
Reply That is a potential option we are exploring to help Engineers that use kits.
Question Will Engi's get more weapon options in the future? Or possibly more weapon kits?
Reply Yes, both at some point!!!
I feel like these questions all address the same thing: The Engineer's kit mechanic is actually limiting when it was supposed to be versatile.
I made a point in that previous post about an Engineer always having to tote around a pistol or rifle, even if they had no intention of using it. Currently kits are also unaffected by your weapon, so if you don't use that cool +over9000 damage Rifle, you don't get any benefit from equipping it (aside from the stat bonuses). The good news is that maybe in the future you do? That's what Jon Peters is pointing to here and it's also what I'm hoping for.
They also acknowledge that Engineers will someday get another weapon. That will be awesome.
